Congratulations Rio 2024 Recipient of the Quota Joyce Phillips Award

President Shirley Leuthner and Margaret Vallance were pleased to attend the AMEB Performance and Awards Ceremony on 8th March with The Quota Joyce Phillips 2024 Awardee Rio Sato. Rio performed a piece on the night by Debussy. Isabel Oxenbridge played a piece by Chopin. Isabel was the Quota Joyce Phillips 2023 Awardee. Shirley and Margaret were impressed by the performances and commented on the organisation and

Joyce Phillips, who was a long-standing member of the Brisbane Club made a bequest to the club for the annual award.

AMEB Queensland nominate a promising student of piano each year.  Along with money, the recipient  also receives a certificate from the Quota Brisbane club to commemorate their achievement.

Shirley and Margaret were thrilled to meet with Rio after the ceremony when this photograph was taken.

Working full time the club activities gave me an opportunity to forget the day to day stresses of running a Business. For a small club we punch above our weight and we know we make a difference.

When I joined Quota I was shy and rather reserved, though confident at work. That was then! Forty-one years later, I have taken on leadership roles in Quota and NCWQ when I became a Delegate from Quota. I’ve even spoken at an international Convention. I’ve also found that when we combine our strengths and work together as a team, we are able to do so much more to help change lives.
